Girl Talk Review from Gospelflava.com

Shei Atkins Girl Talk Everyone is aware of the prevalence of mainstream hip hop's lack of respect shown to ladies in their lyrics and videos. Counteracting that is Shei Atkins, who returns to the scene with Girl Talk, a project with themes of empowerment, the trials of relationships, songs of salvation and praise to God. "Sophisticated" is an upbeat jam with a hint of old school 80's that has Atkins serving as a teacher of womanly etiquette and how women should respect themselves. Lead single, "Lord I Love You" is written by Draathoven, and is a praise anthem that is getting serious airplay in Houston —and rightfully so. Atkins encourages the believer to have faith despite trials in "Praise My Way Out", another song that has that throwback R&B vibe to it. "Free" is an urban slow jam that tackles the tough subject of abuse in a relationship, the joys of being free from it and the mindset that the victim of those circumstances often has. Atkins encourages the believer of God's ability to change any situation in "He Can Fix It", while she shows love to single mothers on "You Can Make It". A new dance anthem in the same vein as "Souljah Boy" and the "Cupid Shuffle" is introduced in the banger "J Walk". The difference here is that Atkins wants to know who can walk like Jesus in their everyday walk. Clever! She doesn't forget her roots and gives ode to the Dirty South with "Truck Bangin" featuring Lil Flip. Draathoven and Twe-T trade flows on "Gave My Life to God" which is another one of Atkins' autobiographical songs in which she testifies how messed up her life was until she became a Christian. This is one for those who love that signature Houston sound. Other songs to check out are "Hot Head" featuring Tragedy and "Romans 10:9". Shei Atkins is going after an audience of women that have been hurt and scared by various circumstances and also serves to encourage those in the church. Take notice of Girl Talk.
